Alice in Wonderland
Spring Recital

Leap down the rabbit hole and enter a wonderland of dance that will delight your imagination based on  Lewis Carroll's 1865 well-known children's book, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.  With music from Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Joby Talbot we will follow Alice into a world all her own!​

ALICE IN WONDERLAND RECITAL is Saturday, May 31, 2pm and 6pm at Willard Middle School with a tech rehearsal Friday, May 30 at 5pm at Willard Middle School.

​This brand new musical version of the timeless classic takes you down the rabbit hole with zany characters, mad tea parties, flamingo croquet on the lawn, and tap dancing playing cards.  This all in a land where nothing is as it seems. You'll meet the ever-curious Alice, the White Rabbit, Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum, the Mad Hatter, the Caterpillar, the Mock Turtle, the mysterious Cheshire Cat, the Queen of Hearts, and all your favorites from Lewis Carroll's beloved books, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass.

This is a not to miss, magical, tuneful, and

over-the-top entertaining musical for the whole family!​

Please use the tracks and selections below to prepare for your audition. You will be asked to sing at least one and up to three of the below selections of your choice and may be asked to sing additional material from the show if needed. 

*Register and attend our Alice in Wonderland Audition Workshop for additional preparation.

A DOWNLOADABLE AUDITION FORM WILL BE POSTED IN MAY. ON YOUR AUDITION FORM YOU WILL BE ABLE TO LIST ANY SCHEDULE CONFLICTS WHICH COULD AFFECT CASTING, SPECIAL SKILLS AND PRREFERRED ROLES.

​

CAST COMMITMENT:  $165 per cast participation fee per cast member which includes T-shirt and script/practice materials. All cast members must also participate in two scheduled fundraising events (in order to keep the participation fee low, dates will be scheduled prior to auditions). Scheduling does affect casting so please be sure you indicate all conflicts on your audition form. No more than four scheduled rehearsals should be missed.

Rehearsals begin June 18.
Rehearsals will be held at St. Andrew Lutheran Church: Monday or Tuesday (4pm-8pm), Wednesday (4pm-8pm)  and Saturday (10am-2pm)  plus additional tech rehearsals in August. Depending on availability we may also call morning rehearsals as needed. *Typically not  all cast members are required to be at every rehearsal.

Cast of Characters:

*Description details may change slightly depending on casting. Many roles can be played by either a male or female. 

​

Alice- Female actor that can present as tween or young teen with an inquisitive and determined air. 

Must have a good musical air, expressive voice and  Ballet basics. Alice must be available for all rehearsal times and be adaptive and enjoy a fast pace of learning music, blocking and choreography. 

​

The Queen of Hearts- Poised, refined and powerful female actor teen-adult. Must be very expressive and have an excellent singing voice. 

​

The Mad Hatter- A comedic actor with a larger than life personality and body language. The hatter is always up for an adventure! 

​

The White Rabbit- The White Rabbit must execute quick and clever movements

​

The Dormouse- Dormouse is a comedic actor and song singer who can fall asleep and wake up with pizazz. 

​

The March Hare- Hare the counterpart to the Hatter. Hare should have larger than life movements and be a good singer. 

​

The Mock Turtle- The mock turtle sings a beautiful ballad and should have a strong and sympathetic stage presence. 

​

The Dodo Bird- Dodo should be a confident actor who can stand tall in characterization. 

​

The Cheshire Cat- A jazzy singer with a  mysterious air. Should be able to excute unique and mysterious movements.

​

Tweedle Dee- Huge energy, comedic presence and excellent singer 

​

Tweedle Dum - Huge energy, comedic presence and excellent singer 

​

The Knave of Hearts- Knave should be able to command the audience to his (or her) side.

​

The Caterpillar- A huge personality that can sing a la Bob Marly. Caterpillar is odd but likable and must keep a good rhythm. 

 

Alice's Mother- Graceful and poised with a lovely and refined singing voice. 

​

Loreena- Alice's older sister who may lose patience with her but is still lovable with a lovely singing voice. Should have some dance experience. 

​

Two of Hearts- This card can sing and dance! The actor should be good at story telling and dance with easy and clean movements.

​

Ensemble Roles include Flowers, Caucus Race Animals, Tap Dancing Cards, Dancing Caterpillar legs, Flamingos and other various Wonderland Characters
